펄프등 셀룰로즈섬유에 상온 염착이 가능하다.
초지공정에서 정착률이 높기 때문에 중성 부근에서도 사용할수 있어 Alum 사용량을 줄일수 있다.
품종에 따른 염착성 차이가 적기 때문에 조색성이 양호하다.
부분적인 색 오염 발생이 거의 없다.
폐수 부하량이 적고 다른 품종에 비하여 처리가 용이하다.
비용이 저렴하여 경제적이다.
액상 Type의 직접염료
- Sizing or unsizing된 화학펄프 염색에 적합하여 낮은 이염성을 가지고 있고, 밝은 색상을 발현한다.
- pH에 민감하지 않아 pH4~9.0 사이에서도 사용가능하다.

Pulper, Beater, Mixing Chest, Machine Chest등에 충분히 용해된 상태로 투입하고, Alum용액으로 pH 6 이하로 조절하여 정착시킨다.
액상 Type은 FAM Pump 전, 후에 사용할 수도 있다.
Size press에서 starch와 함께 사용할 수도 있다.

Cation성 물질과는 침전 생성 가능성이 있기 때문에 함께 사용을 피하는 것이 안전하다.
용해 상태가 충분하지 않으면 색이 어둡고 발색율이 낮으며 Blend Color에서는 색상차이가 날수 있으니 주의를 요한다.
수질이 좋지 않은 물을(높은 경도 또는 염분이 많은 물) 사용할 경우 용해액에 인산소다(ex.트리폴리인산소다, 피로인산소다등)를 첨가하고 온도를 올리면 용해도가 향상되어 색의 밝기와 발색율이 높아진다.
액상 Type은 직사광선을 피하고, 영하의 온도에서 보관 시 동결위험이 있으니 유의하여 사용하여야한다.
